Growing up a big girl with big feet was something that I’d like to erase from my mind. Going to the shoe store was always a torturous event and always ended up in disaster.

Now am I the only one? I don’t think so. You, Curvy Goddess, do you remember such disastrous trips to the shoe store?

The whole ordeal reminded me that I was not meant to be seen. How did you feel?

Shucks, there weren’t any pretty shoes for this big girl’s feet no matter how beautiful I was on the inside. No one was going to make shoes for me so that I could walk around strong, proud, and beautiful.

One embarrassing situation I remember happened in Junior High, singing in the church choir. I recall the sapphire satiny dresses that were chosen for us to wear but Dad and Mom could not find shoes to match my beautiful dress.

I wanted patent leather go-go boots or those Candies slip-ons with the wooden sex kitten heels but instead I wore these horrid-looking doo doo brown men’s shoes with the squishy rubber heel. Yes, I had to wear them because they were the only shoes that fit me.

I don’t even think the phrase plus size accessories existed back then and I had to wait until I was well into my adult grown years to have plus size accessories; shoes, bracelets, hosiery, etc. become available to me.

Now anything goes. I can be sexy, towering in 5 inch gold platform heels and feel beautiful.

I can finally be seen although still many may not want that to happen. Wake-up! There’s a lot of size discrimination splattering all across this Nation.

Curvy Goddess, there is no stopping us now. No doo doo brown hush puppies for us.

Plus Size Accessories – Sexy Shoes for Big Ol’ Feet

Finding the outfit for that perfect occasion is great but I learned at a recent fashion shoot all about the “POP” that you get from plus size accessories, accessories that are made to be a major part of the plus womens wardrobe.

There are many times that I am compelled to hide in my baggy dark clothing – black athletic fleece and black leggings with sneakers to complete the invisible Curvy Goddess ninja look.

But there are a few occasions that I want to and even more times that I need to look like a part of Curvy Goddess royalty. I’d be happy walking around the city in caftans all summer long and even going into fall.

My friend and Curvy Stylist, Steffany Bready would have a heart attack if that ever happened. And I do care for my precious, gifted friend so that won’t do.

I love to wear basic black, navy blues and I’m experimenting with white. I know…I know. I never said I was a Fashionista. I have my friend, Steffy helping me with my fashion challenge.

So I’m playing with the idea of using plus size accessories, in particular jewelry, to make my whole look stand out.

So what can plus size accessories do to make your whole look “POP”?

Color: Apparel-wise I love black and am comfortable wearing it. Also navy blues and occasionally I’ll wear white.

I love to bring color with the jewelry…Turquoise, coral, citrus…

Bling, Bling: Anything sparkly, metallic…


Big and Bold: Think about the size proportion. I’m not a petite girl so petite, cutesy, itsy, bitsy pearl earrings won’t make any impact.

I love bracelets but have really big hands for a woman. Of course, they are not disproportionate to the rest of my body. I am a true modern day Amazon. I am a Curvy Goddess with big hands and feet to match my long limbs and strong body.

Trying to find bracelets that would fit through my big knuckles was an issue for me growing up but my options opened up and wiped out this problem when bracelets were created for the big girl with big hands. Big bracelets are now beautiful, bling bling for the “have to be seen” agenda, and they are incredibly affordable.

Cocktail rings are available in all gorgeous, stunning colors.



Also try layering your necklaces for extra drama.

Plus size accessories give plus womens wardrobe much more flexible options. And I’ve shown you how plus size accessories can be added to the not-so-stand-out outfit so that it would re-create a whole new effect.
