I’ve just started my comprehensive course of fashion lessons. To guide and teach me? My good friend and Curvy Goddess Fashionista, Steffy Bready. I admit. I’m a ding-a-ling when it comes to fashion pizzazz and wisdom but I’m willing to learn. You have a chance to learn with me because Steffy will share lots of her fashion knowledge and wisdom with us. And boy she does have a ton of fashion wisdom, knowledge, and savvy.
New York City called her through an opportunity to attend FIT (Fashion Institute of Technology). Her fashion focus was in Accessories Design while attending. This was the beginning of Steffy’s fashion adventure. She has worked for Michael McCollum, Byron Lars, and now Manolo Blahnik.
So in preparation for my interview with her I just read the September Issue of Vogue and am prepared to ask the questions coming from knowing very little about fashion for the past ten years. Yes, yes, yes. I’ve been completely out-of-it and now I’m ready to get back into the fashion playground with Steffy’s assistance.
Perusing through the pages of the “Fashion Bible” I didn’t feel completely foreign to this world. I was one of Wilhelmina’s plus size models a while ago and wasn’t in awe of the industry. I was just completely comatose at the time not realizing what I did or what had happened to me. Yes I was signed by one of the most famous modeling agencies in the world and I missed the “importance” of it. Now a reality show exists, America’s Top Model, where one of the major prizes is winning a contract with Wilhelmina or Ford.
I moved to New York City from Seattle completely fearless knowing that I had to do it. Curiosity guided me to the big city and something mightier protected me. Now after 13 years I’ve come full circle and I’m interviewing my beautiful friend about fashion. This time I’m coming from a place of playfulness, wonder, and creativity.
I want to know all the interesting fashion highlights for Fall 2009. What are the major styles and trends? From colors, to fabrics, to collections of major fashion designers, to accessories. I want to know everything and how are these relevant to the Curvy Goddess. It’ll be very interesting and she’s willing to share every little detail.
What do you think? What would you like me to ask her? Share your questions and comments down below…

Diane, I CAN'T wait to see how this section progresses. I'm so fed up with trends that make even skinny girls look bulky, bottom-heavy, muffin-topped and hoochy–never mind putting these outfits on someone who's got some meat on her bones. I'd like to know how to select flattering, well-fitting pieces for my "perfect," measurements that will express elegance, intelligence and fun and also where to get these items. Ooh, and I'd love some pointers on keeping "the girls" contained–they're always sneaking out my slinky dresses!
I just completed the Report last night. It's a 43 min video presentation. Since you're a Curvy Goddess VIP you'll have access to the complete presentation Honey. I learned so much from Steffy. I want to do more videos of having Steffy dress me and giving me ideas. Also an undergarments video would be informative I think. I'm so glad you're enjoying this and looking forward to more.
xoxo
